Evaluation - Question 3
Friday, 23 March 2012
Evaluation Question 6

In this screen shot it shows how we reached the "dip to black" effect. We used this at the end of our clip so that it was not such an abrupt finish to the film before it continues on to the title of our film.

In this screen shot it shows us speeding up this part of our film
We choose to do this when the antagonist is stalking the victim through the woods because it is a crucial piece of footage in our film because it shows the story line but it was taking up valuable time in our film which we could use elsewhere.
To get this edit you click on the piece of clip you want to speed up then hit ctrl and click at the same time and a white box will appear. Then scroll down until you reach the option "speed/duration" where you can then adjust the speed of the clip as shown in the screen shot above.
These are all print screen shots of the different type of editing effects that we used on our film.
From the process of constructing our product we have learnt that the Premiere Pro technology can be quite unreliable as it has lost our work twice and so we have had to restart. However, when it has worked properly we have found that it is a very useful program to use.
Also, the video cameras that we filmed our video on were very easy to use when we worked out how to do it which made the process a quick and easy procedure.

Evaluation Question 2
We decided to express how footsteps attracted different social groups through a speech diagram of their views. We interviewed several people and borrowed it down to the best mode effective response, we understood both the good and the bad. It allowed us to understand our social groups and what they liked about footsteps and what we could improve next time. It was very interesting to see that different ages above our certificate age enjoyed footsteps, it was very interesting!
For this evaluation question we took pictures of our target audience with quotes of what they liked about our film Footsteps.
The question we are answering is - How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Magazine article of a review for Footsteps!

We decided to use a magazine article to express our target
auidence opiniouns of our film as it is a more interesting way of exploring
information. It also shows off our skills within other media forms. It is
visually appealing and discusses both good and bad comments about Footsteps,
this allowed us to see what was good as well as what to develop or change in
the future! It was also more interesting and creative to make than a paragraph
of information.
Footsteps - Focus Group Who would be the audience for Footsteps?
For our evaluation question 4 we decided to revisit our focus group, this time we did it with a much smaller group to get a more personal reaction. From the focus group we learnt several things, they enjoyed the first 2 minutes of the film, they liked how the victim didnt identify with the antagonists face till the end of the opening scene, as they felt it followed conventions of thrillers. However they felt as did we that the scream needed to be improved, they felt it should be emphasized to have a more scary thrilling effect. As a group we questioned if the scream should be left in at the end we decided to leave it there, but if we were to do it again we would correct the scream. We identified that they would go to see the film in the cinema with their friends and that they would recommend it to their friends, they also agreed that it was appropriate for their age group. After the focus group we identified that our film was a success, even though it could be developed and improved further! We enjoyed doing the focus group it was very informative!
Footsteps Media Coursework
This is our final, edited film! We are very proud of our film, even though we have had several set backs and is the first film we have ever written, directed, edited and acted in! We enjoyed the process and the final item!

Edited Locations

These are the location pictures which we have edited to see what different effects we could use for each picture. We chose effects which emphasised the pictures so they give off a mysterious, thriller like image. The pictures are from two different locations, two are from a possible location we looked at before choosing one and two are from the actual location where we filmed our thriller film. Both of the locations were suitable however we decieded one location would be best for the filming schedual. Our Inspiration for our thriller film.

This scene shows the location, similar to our location as it is woodland. The victim is running away just like our victim.

This scene uses dark lighting and errie imaging to show the stalker watching the victim, whilst the victim identifys the antagonist. This is scary to watch and creates a great atmosphere!

This scene shows the crime scene this influenced us as it breaks down the storyline and creates the 'who did it?' storyline.
This scene from the lovely bones influnced us as it shows the stalker watching but he is hiden it is deciptive and exciting.
Our first inspiration came from the lovely bones; this film is not a thriller however it follows the conventions of stalking. The young girl is being stalked and eventually killied by a man, we based our film around stalking like the lovely bones, however we decided to use a girl killing a girl to contrast typical thriller conventions. The lovely bones begins with the ending just like our film Footsteps, the auidence identifys the killer but the characters within the film do not. We based our film around this, as beginning with the crime allows the film to develop the typical 'who did it?' storyline, therefore our film follows a crime genre, just like the lovely bones. When we watched and depicted the lovely bones we identified and connected with a freaky, eerie atmosphere, the exact atmosphere we wanted for our thriller film!
Discovering Our Thriller Film Name
Here we used a process of ellimination to work out which name we wanted to choose for our film. We used the ideas that are target audience came up with and also other names which we thought of ourselves.
We thoroughly thought through which names we thought suited our film and the positives and negatives of each name until we eventually ended with "Footsteps".

Ideas from our target auidence for Thriller film names

We decided to ask our target auidence for film name ideas to identify what would attract them to our film. It allowed us to connect with our target audience and adapt some of their own ideas. It was also a creative form of way to express our potential thriller film ideas, as well as involving our auidence and publicising our film!Losing a member of the team!
Unfortuately the fourth member of the group Mia, has decieded to leave sixth form half way through our media course. Which has delayed us as a group and left us at a disadvantage as we have four peoples work to do between only three. So there is lots of work to be done !!!!!!!!
